CWP CEO Highlights Southeast Europe as the Future of European Energy on "Redefining Energy" Podcast

Our CEO, Dimitar Enchev, recently joined Gerard Reid and Laurent Segalen on the acclaimed Redefining Energy podcast to share why Southeast Europe (SEE) is one of the most promising renewable energy markets in the world.
Reflecting on CWP’s nearly two decades of pioneering work across SEE, Dimitar emphasized the region’s critical role in building a more independent, competitive, and clean European energy system.
“Renewables in SEE represent a critically important part of the EU energy puzzle and one of the best investment opportunities anywhere in the world — in terms of investment return but also in terms of socio-economic impact.” Dimitar said.
Key takeaways from the episode:
- Strategic priority: Renewables are no longer just about decarbonization—they are about energy independence and economic resilience.
- SEE’s unique advantage: The region’s wind and solar resources are out of sync with Western Europe, helping balance supply and reduce volatility across the grid.
- Investment opportunity: Saturation in core EU markets creates a compelling case for building and integrating clean energy in SEE, where prices and spreads are higher, and the need for new capacity is urgent.
- CWP’s role: With flagship projects like Romania’s 600 MW Fantanele–Cogealac wind farm and a pipeline of over 6 GW, CWP is scaling clean energy where it matters most.
